The Commercial Solar Project Developer is responsible for originating and developing commercial and industrial (C&I) solar projects (Behind the Meter and Community Solar). This position will also take the lead on responses to public and private Solar RFPs. The Commercial Solar Project Developer will utilize their product & industry knowledge, familiarity with the financial benefits of a solar project, and Pfister’s internal engineering, estimating, & project development team, to prepare a system design, cost estimate, cash flow analysis, finance options, and proposal for the customer. This individual will educate a prospective customer on the value proposition of solar and answer any questions or concerns the customer has while they are considering options. The individual will also be able to demonstrate why the customer should choose Pfister Energy to finance, design, construct, and maintain the solar array over other offerings in the marketplace.
Strong analytical skills and multi-faceted communication strategies are required for this position. You will understand relevant state and federal renewable energy incentives, and contractual matters including EPC Contracts, financial & lending models (Power Purchase Agreements (“PPAs”), capital purchases, and financing/leases) and will become familiar with solar, energy storage, and EV product offerings.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Identify leads through prospecting large corporations, networking, tradeshows, cold-calling, attending industry events, referrals, marketing campaigns, etc.
- Curate high-level relationships with Pfister’s referral partners, other solar developers, financiers, and commercial and industrial business owners to generate qualified sales leads.
- Manage the sales process – including analysis of the customer’s current electrical utilization and spending, gathering data on the available roof and land space, as well as various financing alternatives available to the customer to demonstrate the benefits of solar.
- Represent Pfister Energy in a designated territory, working with the senior executives and decision-makers.
- Create sales proposals, cash flow analyses, reports, and presentations for current and prospective customers that illustrate the financial benefit of installing an onsite solar array.
- Participate in Sales & Marketing opportunity development and status conference calls.
- Participate in regional and national tradeshows.
- Understand the basics of Photovoltaic Systems including electricity basics, PV sizing principles, system components, and PV design.
- Develop a deep understanding of the market, of Pfister’s products and value offerings – as well as all available commercial solar products, and competitors’ offerings.
- Manage the RFP responses for public and private projects.
- Maintain Pfister Energy’s CRM tool by documenting all leads and opportunities and by tracking all sales activities.
- Research data on market trends, opportunities, and potential new markets and verticals.
- Recommend regional business development strategies and tactics to the company’s leadership team by utilizing a unique and detailed understanding of your geographic market.
- Work with the VP of Business Development to ensure this strategy supports the corporate business development goals.
- Perform additional assignments as requested.

Qualifications/Required Experience:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Energy related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in B2B sales development
- Sales experience in the solar industry is strongly preferred
- Experience in the energy services industry, finance industry, commercial real estate industry, or in an industry selling an intricate product or service considered.
- Ability to travel throughout a multi-state region as necessary.
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, CRM software)
