Construction Manager (NY & NJ Sites)

About the Role

Manages multiple active construction sites and manages a team of Site Superintendents to oversee individual project construction. The Construction Manager is an on-site position and is expected to provide daily field management during all construction activities through multiple ongoing projects, ensuring on-budget and on-schedule project execution and upholding Pfister Energy Safety and Quality standards.  Oversees all aspects of each construction phase, ensuring schedule completion through each milestone and conducting Quality inspections throughout the construction process. 

CM’s will provide onsite management and training of project details and requirements including but not limited to; page turns/drawing reviews with Sub-contractors and Pfister personnel, safety meetings, PODs, toolbox talks, verification of daily documentation, SWPPP inspections and coordination for all material deliveries.  Provide daily/weekly updates to the project team with updated construction schedules, run weekly construction calls with all sub-contractors, and coordinate field visits with internal teams, clients, 3rd party testing groups, and AHJ or inspectors.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Safety Management

  • Ensures construction site meets safety requirements.
  • Document safety violations/incidents and document corrective actions.
  • Produce observations within Procore for corrective actions.
  • Work with the Project Management team to develop risk assessment and JHA’s, execute the SWPPP and any additional Best Management Practices (BMP) as needed, and give job safety briefings and toolbox talks in weekly meetings.
  • Manage and complete the preconstruction checklist and procure appropriate signage, siteboard, and kickoff meeting materials.

Subcontractor and Personnel Management

  • Implement project plan with subcontractors and site superintendent.
  • Tracks deadlines, monitors site progress, and confirms lookaheads are aligned with the overall project schedule.
  • Hold daily construction meetings with the site superintendent.
  • Run weekly project meetings between the internal team and subcontractors and circulate minutes to all parties.
  • Interacts and communicates effectively with contractors, site superintendents, and project management. Share experience and best practices to continuously improve the means and methods of the construction process and operational procedures.
  • Review daily logs/reports/photos to ensure real-time accurate data is input daily.
  • Review approved material via submittal before installation.
  • Page turn drawings review with sub-contractors w/2-week lookahead reviews.
  • Manage RFI’s and observations between subs, internal field personnel, and internal office personnel through Procore.

Internal Organization

  • Track procurement in conjunction with project management.
  • Review and comment on 60%, 90%, IFC and construction revision drawing sets.
  • Review and comment on subcontract agreements.
  • As-needed report to project manager for vendor order forms and POs.
  • Written weekly reports to the project manager and director of construction.
  • Arrange quotes and submit written requests for internal procurement.
  • Assist project manager with internal project schedule.
  • Select photos for approval from Procore for external distribution identified for progress documentation.
  • Review RFI’s and ensure appropriate parties receive information.
  • Review project closeout and provide support to both the internal team and subcontractors.

Quality Management/Construction Support

  • Conduct construction progress inspections with site super and subcontractors for quality control and progress reporting.
  • Produce Procore observations for corrective actions.
  • Work with QA & PM to ensure all QA/QC plan components are accounted for in the Schedule exp; Golden Row & First in Place Installations etc.
  • Conduct & complete QA inspections according to QA plan frequency and project schedule.
  • Communicate QA status and results to the QA manager and project team.
  • Work with the QA manager to collect the documentation needed at project closeout.
  • Oversee sub-contractors performing any QA/QC-related work in the field.
  • Inform the QA manager of all non-conformance or discrepancy-related issues during construction.
  • Work with Cx & QA teams during construction to achieve all necessary documentation, equipment information, certifications, and testing results per the EPC.
  • Report all non-conformance issues to the QA dept and client as applicable.
