Director of Engineering Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all engineering-related tasks required for project development, design, and construction – including designing CAD commercial and industrial PV and battery systems, engineering calculations, document tracking, revision control, Build and support templates, excel calculators, and design tools.
  • Effectively lead the current design team of two (2) on all projects while providing support to the project management team of four (4) as necessary.
  • Successfully communicate project status to management.
  • Conduct job site observations or inspections as necessary.
  • Review and approve project documents, modifications and changes for quality and accuracy.
  • Identifying and managing outside engineering firms for electrical (when outsourced), civil, and structural engineering on each project.
  • Interface with key cross-functional team members (Sourcing, QA, Sales, Project Management, Marketing, etc.)
  • Review, clarify and improve current design team procedures to ensure optimal performance.
  • Review and seal Permit, IFC, and As-Built Drawings
  • Research, evaluate, and introduce new products and technologies.
  • Maintain solid customer service and customer communication.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Meet project deadlines and provide outstanding service to clients.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Work in and foster a team environment with minimal supervision.

Qualifications and Experience

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required.
  • Possession of valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical systems design is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience.
  • Minimum 4 years Solar/Renewable Energy experience
  • Working knowledge of NFPA, IEEE, ANSI and electrical equipment standards desired.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; PVSYST, SKM Electrical Design software experience desired.
  • Familiar with solar performance modeling, performance verification, and testing & commissioning processes.
